Extremities Impairment
Upper extremity impairment, and lower extremity impairment are characterized as a percentage of complete amputation, or a range of motion deficit in certain joints. These terms are used by the American Medical Association in the context of impairment ratings, which are when physicians determine the level of disability, and an individual’s ability to complete daily life activities. Impairments that significantly limit one or more major life activities are categorized as a “disability” under the American with Disabilities Act and affords individuals with such impairments protection against discrimination.
